300B, Headphone amp, and Preamp

Writer: PerryPerry

Here are a few custom amps I've built lately. I have intentions of all of these coming into the regular lineup, but I want to finalize a few things before making them more broadly available. But in the meantime I thought people might like seeing them! Please do reach out if you want one as a custom build, or keep watching and I'll post more when they are available for regular purchase.

Analog Ethos 300B amplifier

300B

One of the most renowned high fidelity tubes for a single-ended triode (SET) amp, this is my version of the 300B. This uses a 6SN7 as a first gain stage, and 6V6 tubes for the drivers. Direct coupled first stage and then coupled to the 300B through interstage transformers (mounted on the interior) so no coupling capacitors are used. Filaments are DC rectified and regulated. Power supply tube rectified with the GZ34. The amp can put out up to about 9-10W per channel. The sound is musical, effortless, and is quite honestly the best amp I have built. It's not inexpensive given the tubes and components required, but it is an amazing amp. This one here is set up as a power amp, but I can include a volume control also. Cherry wood finish, available in other options, and I plan to offer this in mono block form also.

Analog Ethos tube headphone amp

Headphone amp

I've wanted to do a headphone amp for a while. This is a beautiful amp using a 6SN7 input stage and 6AS7 for the output. It easily drives any headphone impedance using output transformers and a switch to get the best matching from low impedance like 32 ohms or high impedance like 300 or more. This one is a premium option with both 1/4" and XLR 4-pin connectors, balance control, and 2-tone wood finish. No detail is missed, with even a nice indented finger rim on the front to hold while you plug your headphones in or out!

Line Preamp

I have a great circuit using the 6922 / 6DJ8 tube for a gain stage and buffer, extremely clean and perfect to drive any power amp. Three inputs to switch between and volume control. I have plans to expand this with more options for phono stage and a few other things and I may do a different visual style, but thought I would share it for now! More coming soon! Stay tuned.

Again, do reach out if you are interested in a custom amp like these or other requests you may have. Custom amps take a bit longer and cost more due to their nature as one-off amps, but can sometimes help get exactly the options and design that you want!

Take care and happy Spring! (well, soon! I hear some birds chirping, we are almost there!)

Jesus. Your amps are beautiful. Stunning. Everything about this entire site is beautiful. Perhaps I'll have more detailed and nuanced comments in the future but just wanted to tell you I've been poring over all of this for a day now. It's very inspiring.
